WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS...
A fundraising effort to benefit a child cancer victim was thwarted Monday by a community association office manager who closed two New Port Richey, Fla. girls' lemonade stand, citing neighborhood association bylaws against public soliciting. The incident is the second to make national headlines in recent months, sparking parents' umbrage and lemonade stand patrons' outrage. Even from a detached legal standpoint, the lemonade stand in question should not have been shut down. Passive, non-profit fundraising efforts, or those that do not actively seek donors, should not be defined as soliciting. This blog does not want to live in a country where lemonade stands can be outlawed. This blog is moving to Canada.
