"God only knows what is to happen. I see nothing impossible in that supposition. And I see things wonderfully contrived sometimes to make us happy. Where could they find such objects as in America for the exercise of their enchanting art? Especially the lady, who paints landscapes so inimirably. She wants only subjects worthy of immortality to render her pencil immortal. " --Thomas Jefferson, A Dialogue Between The Head and The Heart

    WHAT MAKES OUR COUNTRY GREAT?

Odd local venues, like the 2003 Oriental, N.C.Croaker Festival, that's what. Scroll down to the center of the article and you'll see the best rendering of a partying, dancing fish to ever emerge from this great nation (America). The Croaker Festival is held July 4 and 5 in Oriental, the county seat of Pamlico county. Where there's the freedom to celebrate frogs, which strike this blog as a strange thing to boast about, kind of like holding a "Our Town Is Infested With Filthy Cockroaches Festival," there's patriotism. And beer.
