WHAT LIBERAL MEDIA?
Although former CBS reporter Bernard Goldberg revealed in his recent bestseller, Bias, that major network news programs usually deliver straight news with an unintentional leftward slant, it is fair to say that the conservatives have cornered the market on television and radio political commentary programs.
The New York Times' Frank Rich examines this phenomenon at length in "Why Liberals Are No Fun," an artsy op-feature in which he reports that former presidential candidate Al Gore and Democratic humor writer Al Franken ("Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot," among his greater-known works) have each anted up millions to produce liberal-viewpoint radio and TV shows. A valiant effort, but they'll never eclipse Rush Limbaugh, that pompous prince of the airwaves who first coined the phrase "dittoheads."
