"God only knows what is to happen. I see nothing impossible in that supposition. And I see things wonderfully contrived sometimes to make us happy. Where could they find such objects as in America for the exercise of their enchanting art? Especially the lady, who paints landscapes so inimirably. She wants only subjects worthy of immortality to render her pencil immortal. " --Thomas Jefferson, A Dialogue Between The Head and The Heart

ITALY, U.K. MIRED IN LASAGNA SCANDAL

While the United States tackles the prickly hunt for Iraqi WMDs, the war on terror, the domestic budget and whether or not to send troops to Liberia, European nations are bickering over who first invented lasagna. British researchers--who apparently have way too much time on their hands--claim to have found a lasagna recipe dating back to the 14th century, long before the dish surfaced in Italy. Unsurprisingly, the Italian Embassy refuted the claim.

Recap: Wouldn't "The Lasagna Scandal," make a good name for a rock band?
