"God only knows what is to happen. I see nothing impossible in that supposition. And I see things wonderfully contrived sometimes to make us happy. Where could they find such objects as in America for the exercise of their enchanting art? Especially the lady, who paints landscapes so inimirably. She wants only subjects worthy of immortality to render her pencil immortal. " --Thomas Jefferson, A Dialogue Between The Head and The Heart

    OUR SAGGING DOLLAR

Although the U.S. is in an economic slump, it is still the sole hyperpower militarily and financially. So, this blog simply cannot understand why so many currencies (the British Pound Sterling, the Euro, the Giant Three-ton Stone Coins from the Micronesian Isle of Yap) are valued higher than the U.S. dollar. Surely the most powerful and wealthiest country should have the most valuable currency, right?

This blog knows that Japan is also very rich and that it takes roughly 12 million Japanese yen to make the equivalent of a nickel, but this blog still insists that the U.S. should have superior money. After all, everything else here is superior. This blog knows that there is a sensible economic reason for the relative values and exchange rates of currency, but it anticipates that this explanation will be intolerably boring.
