"God only knows what is to happen. I see nothing impossible in that supposition. And I see things wonderfully contrived sometimes to make us happy. Where could they find such objects as in America for the exercise of their enchanting art? Especially the lady, who paints landscapes so inimirably. She wants only subjects worthy of immortality to render her pencil immortal. " --Thomas Jefferson, A Dialogue Between The Head and The Heart

    LOCAL BASEBALL UPDATE

New Bern pummeled Northern Division nemesis Rocky Mount in a two-game series, igniting Saturday on a six-run spree in the fourth inning to win 14-10 in the eighth. How does this blog know? Because it sat in the press box, stringing together cretin sentences like "The bats came alive in the bottom of the fourth," in its head while taking reasonably accurate notes AND running the scoreboard while the two designated scorekeepers were out behind the concession stand, probably committing, at least, misdemeanors of some sort.

This game story, which appears in today's Sun Journal, is the result of a late night made possible by Mountain Dew, in which the keystrokes came alive in the top of the morning and this blog managed to hit one out of the park. However--ask any former dates--this blog has always had tremendous difficulty getting past first base.
