"God only knows what is to happen. I see nothing impossible in that supposition. And I see things wonderfully contrived sometimes to make us happy. Where could they find such objects as in America for the exercise of their enchanting art? Especially the lady, who paints landscapes so inimirably. She wants only subjects worthy of immortality to render her pencil immortal. " --Thomas Jefferson, A Dialogue Between The Head and The Heart

    A CASE OF TYPIST'S CRAMP

    1, 170

No, that isn't this blog's daily Mountain Dew budget, that is the word count for this blog's latest sports feature in the New Bern Sun Journal, the community newspaper that, inexplicably, contracts this blog's services as a stringer.

One thousand, one hundred seventy words. All this blog can say is, "Judas Priest." The article will appear in Friday's sports section, or more likely, the article will be Friday's sports section.

People who say that a picture is worth a thousand words have no concept of actually sitting down and composing 1,000 words to meet deadline. After having done both, this blog would be inclined to take the picture.
